Happy Memories of Aunt Marion

So many happy times spent with Aunt Marion.

I remember visiting Aunt Marion and Uncle Cliff with my Mum and Dad (Helen and Ross Donovan) and my brother Gord probably close to 50 years ago and being greeted at the door by Skippy ( their super exuberant and friendly pup) who couldn't wait until the people hellos were done so that we could get down to some serious sock pulling. I've never seen a happier dog.

If we were visiting at the right time of year, Aunt Marion would send us out to the garden where we could turn up some potatoes or maybe pick some peas for dinner. For this city boy those experiences (not to mention the flavours) have never faded.

For many years Mum and Aunt Marion shared a love of cryptic crosswords and would have a friendly competition to see who could solve the latest Globe & Mail or U of T editions. I don't remember an occasion when a puzzle stumped them both.

More recently, we've been fortunate to spend the last several Christmases with Aunt Marion. Just a couple of warm quiet days visiting, sharing gifts and memories over dinner followed by peanut butter marshmallow squares and other tasty no-cal treats that Aunt Marion always provided (and of course several games of Scrabble and SkipBo, mostly won by you know who).

Sally, Colin, Jenny and I have really treasured those visits and while we will miss her very much, we are comforted by her strong Faith and know that she has left us to be in the presence of her Lord and the company of so many of her loved ones.

Farewell Aunt Marion, we will remember you with love.
