Obituary for Helena Alberta Tucker

TUCKER, Helena Alberta (nee Spencer) – on Wednesday, January 8, 2014, in her 97th year. Born in Havelock, Ontario, to the late Alfred and Mary Ellen (nee Hubble) Spencer. Wife of the late Allan Andrew Tucker (1978). Long time resident of Peterborough, and the cottage at Round Lake, Havelock, which was her pride and joy for many years. Proud of her U.E.L. and Hubble heritage. Member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Peterborough and Past President of Scout Mothers; originator of the Kitchen Kuties Band, of which she was leader and song writer; member of Senior Citizens of Havelock; received Senior of the Year Award from Havelock-Belmont-Methuen in 1995; recently organized The Red Hat Society of Havelock, of which she was the Queen Bee; wrote an interesting column for the Havelock newspaper for several years. She was known for her skills in baking and piano playing. Dear mother of Lynn Palmer (Peter) of Midland, June Woodside (Jim) of Etobicoke, Spencer (Lois) of Peterborough, Andy (Debbie) of Trenton and Mark of Peterborough. Grandma Helen will be sadly missed by 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and special niece Jacqueline Wight (nee Sanders). Resting at the BRETT FUNERAL CHAPEL, HAVELOCK on Friday, January 17, 2014 from 2 – 4 and 7 – 9 pm. Service Saturday, January 18, 2014 at 1:30 pm, Reverend Jim Armstrong officiating.
