Obituary for Clare Anderson McKay

Clare Anderson McKay
McKAY, Clare “Curly” Anderson – Peacefully at home on Lake Seymour on Thursday, November 3, 2016 in his 81st year. Born January 17, 1936 “North of 7” in his family home in Havelock. Defied a high school principal’s prediction that he would end up “digging ditches” to become the Chief Administrative Officer of Victoria County for over 25 years following posts as Deputy Clerk for Halton County and Assistant Clerk for King Township. Playing the bass drum as a cadet, Tai-chi, choral singing, and dancing were favorite pastimes over the years. Summers were spent on Belmont Lake waterskiing, boating, barbequing and enjoying single malt scotch. Curly was an avid downhill skier in winter; a traveler who voyaged to the U.K., Alaska, China, and Australia; and a determined self-taught fixer of anything mechanical. If a tool or a helping hand was needed he would lend it. Animals loved him and he loved them back – especially dogs, cats, horses and chipmunks. His hugs were well-known and frequently sought by friends and family.

He leaves his loving wife of 4 years, Liz Radzick and favorite sister Lois Noyes of Peterborough. Predeceased by his dear wife Janice McKay. Proud father of Beth, Wes (Tammy) of Lindsay, & Ruth Woods (Dave) of Uxbridge. Grampa will be sadly missed by Ryan, Andrew, Daniel, Katelyn, Luke and Nicholas. Sister-in-laws Jeannette and Lisa will miss their beloved brother-in-law. Nieces and nephews Elizabeth, Kathleen, George, Peter, & William will miss their Uncle Clare and too many cousins, friends and neighbours to count are sad to see him go.

Sincere thanks to Dr. Cheung, Nancy and Danielle of the Peritoneal Dialysis nursing team at Peterborough Regional Health Centre and to Dr. Kelly Parks and her team..
