BEST friend

Rosalee and I met in Sept of 1971 at Alexandra nursing residence in Oshawa. Our "big sisters" were roommates and a group of us were invited to their apt for dinner, the day we first met!!! Both of us were shy, and also feeling very homesick.........we discovered we were next door to each other in residence! And so the fun began. . But the best part of the story is I liked her instantly!!! She was so sweet and seemed naive, but very excited to be in training. We became fast friends and over the next 2 years we did almost everything together. We took the bus home from Oshawa to Belleville most weekends usually dragging our suitcases full of books from residence downtown to the bus station. Allan usually picked us up......... We spent hours talking about what we were learning, comparing stories about our patients, our teachers, the Doctors the cafeteria food, our boyfriends , clothes, parties etc. we formed a bond that to this day is one of the most important relationships of my life. We went our separate ways after training, and we both went on to marry, and have children and nurse in our chosen fields, but we kept in touch, and were lucky enough to spend time together over the years. Rosalee never ever forgot my birthday, or Lances birthday, or our anniversary. she would arrive with a basket full of goodies when she came to visit. Her acts of kindness are too many to list! She danced at my children's weddings and she was ALWAYS a positive and loving force in my life .. She was a shining example of grace, dignity, kindness, thoughtfulness and a generosity of spirit that I feel so blessed to have been a witness to. She was my dearest and life long friend and I will miss her every single day for the rest of my life In her memory I ask that anyone reading this follow her lead, be kind be thoughtful be generous be loving . I love you Rose , rest in peace my dear sweet friend Sandra
