Obituary for Bob Reid

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Bob ‘Bubba’ Reid on July 14th, 2021. With a final thumbs-up, his head was always held high, even after his long, arduous battle with cancer. Bubba touched so many people in this world; growing up in Campbellford, he played hockey, steering himself towards both a good time and hard work, no matter the outcome. He raised his children with a gentle hand while raising a hand of authority at Warkworth Penitentiary until his retirement in 1999. He was a member of the k-40 club, clowned in the Santa Claus parade, taught an annual course at Sir Sandford Fleming College and dedicated his retirement to junior C hockey(for the Campbellford Rebels and recently the Napanee Raiders.)

He will be so severely missed by his beautiful wife Gwenda, Daughters Jody (Justin) Andersen and Tammy (Steven) McConnell, Son Toby, Grandchildren Logan, Bailey, Gracie, Piper, Matthew and Tyler, his Brother Bill, Nephew Mike and Niece Kristi (Beatty). He was unfortunately predeceased by his son Bill earlier this year.

Bubba had a huge heart, great sense of humour and always made time for those who needed him. He was known in Campbellford as a man who loved life, lived on his own terms and rarely wore a shirt even when it was wildly inappropriate. As the patriarch of our family, Bob was our everything and always will be.

With love forever, we cherish him in our hearts. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to the Breakfast Club of Canada or Jumpstart as he volunteered his time to make sure kids ate breakfast and wished all sports to remain accessible for children.

A funeral service will be held at the Christ Anglican Church in Campbellford at a later date.
