Obituary for Ronald Kenneth Kirkland

Ronald Kenneth Kirkland
June 15, 1941 – February 2, 2022

Ron passed away suddenly, but peacefully, at Campbellford Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, just over ten months after losing his loving wife, Diane. “Absent from the body…present with the Lord.” II Cor. 5:8
Ron was the beloved father of Malinda (Don) Towns, Stephen Kirkland, Faith Ann (Wes) Bartley, Kenneth Kirkland, Andrea Kirkland, Glenna (Dan) Gordon and Rhonda Kirkland Gorham, grandfather of 24, and great grandfather of 18.
He was the beloved brother of Robert (Bob) Kirkland and predeceased by his parents Kenneth Kirkland and Mae Kirkland (nee Holmes).
Ron was born in Ottawa, Ontario and at two years old moved to Smiths Falls for several years before his family settled in the Oshawa/Whitby area. He married Diane Clark on October 13, 1962 and she was his faithful and loving wife for 58 years until her death on March 17, 2021.
In 1985, Ron and Diane moved to Port Hope, Ontario where Ron was transferred for work as a butcher at A&P. Even though he was transferred back to the Oshawa and Whitby area stores, they remained in Port Hope for many years before moving back to Oshawa briefly, and then eventually Havelock, Ontario for their retirement years.
Ronald loved God and would always strive to tell people about his personal relationship with Him and prayed they would also seek the same.
Donations may be made in memory of Ron and Diane Kirkland to the ministry of their daughter and son in law, Wesley & Faith Ann Bartley in St. Lucia through BIMI at www.bimi.org/giving/home.php. Please be sure to specify missionary name and number (#1416) and in honour of the memory of Faith Ann’s parents.
A private family graveside service will be held in the spring. Arrangements entrusted to Brett Funeral Chapels Ltd. 20 George St. W., Havelock, ON. Online condolences may be made at www.brettfuneralchapels.com.
