Obituary for Donald Eugene Barker

It is with great sadness that we share news of the passing of Donald Eugene Barker. Don passed away on March 1, 2023 at 2:01pm at the age of 64 in his home in Scarborough, Ontario, surrounded by his loving family.

Don bravely fought a long and difficult battle with brain cancer. His perseverance and strength in fighting to overcome this disease was admirable. He is now reunited with his late parents Delbert and Christina (Teenie) Barker.

His memory will live on through his loving wife Cheri, devoted children Randi (Terry), Brandon (Monica), adored grandchildren Isla and Jaxson. He will be greatly missed by his two loyal dogs, Tank and MJ. Don will be remembered by his siblings, “the ABCs" brother Allen ((late) Barb), sisters Brenda (Mike), Christine (Peter) and Elinor (Dave) along with his nieces Julie, Nicole, Alesha, Lindsey, Jill, and nephews Geoff and Greg and his many Great nieces and nephews.

Our family traditions like regular Sunday dinners and summer vacations at the cottage, to name a few, will be forever altered without him.

Those of you that knew Don knew his passion for sports and need for speed. Boats, winter and summer skiing, hockey, sea-dooing, snowmobiling, drag racing let's just say if it was fast he loved it! But the one that captured his heart truly was his electron blue 2002 z06 Corvette or his baby as he liked to refer to it. Don completely customized and rebuilt it exactly to his liking topped off with a 750 horsepower engine that went from 0-60 in less than two seconds. This lead Don to joining the Corvette Club of Ontario where he met fellow members who turned into friends that also shared in his need for speed. Hearing the rev of that engine will forever remind us of Don.

As Don embarks on his next journey, you are invited to join in a celebration of his life. Being held on Saturday, April 29, 2023 from noon until 1:00pm. A service will follow at 1 pm at the Brett Funeral Chapel in Havelock, Ontario, followed by a reception.

The world truly lost a great man, he will be forever loved and remembered by his family and countless friends.

Donations in honour of Don can be made to the Sunnybrook Health Science Center/Odette Cancer Center.
