Obituary for Dieter Jorg Sebastian Widauer

Widauer, Dieter J. S., January 30, 1937 – September 15, 2022 – Dieter was born in Berlin, Germany to Hubert and Marie Widauer (nee Lorenz) during a time when the world was in turmoil. The family (now 3 sons), immigrated to Canada in 1956. Dieter received his training as a typesetter in Germany and continued in this occupation in Canada becoming very proficient in English and became a Canadian Citizen along with his 3 brothers. His many passions included animals, cars, boats and travel. Dieter visited many countries in Europe and the USA. Dieter loved his family and was loved by his family which included his wife Barbara, daughters Monica & Nadine, and son Renee, and he is also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren. Dieter’s surviving brother Michael resides in Peterborough. His younger brother Eckhart died in Canada at age 20 in a car accident while serving in the military. Dieter served his country by becoming a reservist with the Toronto Scottish, a life member of the Metropolitan police service, and volunteered after retirement with the OPP. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Norwood. Dieter loved being a part of the Hastings community and participated in many events. A celebration of life will be held the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #300 Norwood on Sunday, October 2nd, 2022 from 2:00pm - 4:00pm. Dieter is now at rest with his beloved parents and brother and walks beside and talks with God. “There is no death, thou eyes grow dim, there is no fear when you’re near to Him.” In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the S.P.C.A.
