Obituary for Charles Wilson Conn

One might expect the usual obituary stating what amounts to a resume. I didn’t want that for my Charlie.
We both came from disastrous first marriages. We both had the scars those unions left. He had three children. I had one.
One day we met. At first, we fell in like. Not long after, we fell in love.
We married at The Old Mill in Toronto close to Christmas. It was a small wedding – just close family and a few friends. His son, Grad, was his best man. My son, Arnold, gave me away. My niece, Alexis, was my maid of honour.
We spent 30 blissful years together. Then, after years of battling diabetes, his lungs and kidneys failed. He suffered for an entire month gasping for breath until he begged for and received “the drip”.
I will miss you every day for as long as I live.
Many thanks to the doctors and nurses at Campbellford Memorial Hospital. You worked tirelessly to make him as comfortable as possible.
